Today marks the first day that the "towns" in my favorite MMORPG are decorated for the holidays. Guild Wars does a special holiday event that starts today and will run through Christmas that includes new in-game events, presents, weapons, and even "hats" for characters to wear. It's a fun even to participate in, they do it every year.
And in other news... I finally picked up the new Enemy Territory:Quake Wars game while we were out running errands today. It looks sweet. I'll have to play it on my Windows boot for a couple of weeks until the Linux client comes out but id says that they're working on getting the Linux client out of beta and it should be available to download soon. Sweet! I also picked up the Guild Wars issue of PC Gamer. It seems to have alot of artwork and whatnot from GW:EN including a bonus item card for a new mini. I'll definitely have to boot into GW when I get in tonight and use the code. That should be sweet! Between GW and ET, I'll have plenty of gaming to do for a while. Plus, Drunken Legion, my guild, surprised me this past week with an officer position, so I have some responsibilities to remain active in the guild and make at least some effort to be active. It should be fun. I miss PC gaming.
It is really strange to go to a family reunion that's not your own. Actually, it'd be really strange to go to a family reunion at all for me, being as neither side of my family ever has one unless someone either gets married or dies. Sad, but true, and I think I'm expected to be next in line for that so we'll see. Today, at any rate, I went to a family reunion for Scotty's Grandmother's side of the family. It was interesting, not bad, honestly, but way different than anything I've ever done before, and slightly uncomfortable for knowing next to no-one and then just the sheer number of people floating around. All said and done, though, I'm happy that Scotty felt comfortable enough inviting me to tag along. On the way home, we drove down to see Detroit Lake, which I kept getting a kick out of because to me, Detroit is in Michigan, on the thumb, and it doesn't have a lake. I love water, I just enjoyed getting a chance to watch the water before we headed back to town. It was definitely an experience.
Else wise, my weekend was fairly tame by normal standards. I spent most of Saturday getting stuff done around the house, everything from taking care of the kitty and her needs, to doing laundry, to checking up on some items for work, and so on. In between chores, I also spent an unbelievable amount of time gaming. I played probably six hours of Guild Wars, and yes, I was raiding. ;) Then once I got down to Canby for the evening, ended up playing another two or three hours of Halo 2 with Scott in Campaign mode. That was a blast. I'm looking forward to more time of that. Especially with Halo 3 coming out next month, it'd be nice to make it through 2 again to refresh on the storyline.
This week I've got lots to "look forward" to including: two days of inservices, one for my building, then one district wide complete with hours of useless training, finishing the imaging of the laptops for my building, fixing those two eMacs that still are missing important shortcuts, Spamalot with Whit and Scotty on Wednesday, and whatever else comes up. It promises to be a really busy week, not sure that I'm looking forward to it, but I'll trudge on through anyways.
Guild Wars is doing a 72 hour preview starting at midnight for the new G.W.E.N. expansion. Technically, this is the only expansion of the game thus far, being as the others have been additional campaigns rather than a true expansion. G.W.E.N., standing for Guild Wars Eye of the North, is supposed to fill in the major holes in the story line for the original game. We're supposed to get new armor, skills, heroes, dungeons, and story arcs. It should be a blast. And hey, I'm willing to be up late for this. I'm the only chick online in my guild though. What's that mean? ;)
Starting on Friday and going through Sunday, one of my favorite MMO's is hosting a free preview weekend for their newest campaign, Guild Wars: Nightfall. For anyone who enjoys an occasional MMO, Guild Wars is one of the few games that incorportate PvP, PvE, GvG, etc without a month to month fee involved. It works like this, you just pay once for the campaign, and it's yours to play forever, free of extra charges. I highly recommend trying it out this weekend if you have a chance. Download it here. If you do try it out this weekend, look me up on my main character, Mir Anda. :D
